Self Directed #1

I did Bokeh for my self directed project. I used Christmas lights as my light source. Each picture has a main subject and use of various lights.

  1. I like all of them and the discretion is very descriptive. my favorite one is the candle with the lights in the back because its clear and you can tell that you were trying to have calm mood to the pic, with the lights in the back. The one I didn't like as much was the “dream big” one. It’s a bit blurry and I think you could have incorporated the lights a little differently, like have the lights behind the letters like in the photo of the domino's. good job though(:

  2. • Yes, the description makes sense.
    • Yes, the photos match the description.
    • I really like the photos and how they use color and a shallow depth of field. To get more of the round, see through looking bokeh try moving the subject farther from the lights in the background next time.
    • My favorite photo from the series is the one of the wine glass. I like the colors and the reflection of the lights in the glass.
    • My least favorite photo is the one of dominoes because the bokeh in the back sort of distracts from the main subject

  3. The description well matches the subject of what the person took the picture of. The Christmas lights the fading of the light is well done, and really matches what the description is. Overall, I really enjoy the pictures taken. They are all very colorful and have lots of depth in the pictures. The story in each on is very well framed and has a good story. My favorite picture of the bunch is the first picture with the candle. I really liked it because it was very simple and had a good symbol behind that candle. My least favorite would be the glass with the lights in the back. I didn’t like it the most because the Christmas lights were blurred, but they weren’t completely blurred out. The picture was also had unintentional spots, so that was also kind of distracting.

  4. Nice work on the bokeh photos. These can be a little tricky to setup but these look good and you have a clever little 'story' in each of them. Good composition and editing. One suggestion would be to try 'layering' the bokeh a little more, meaning have different levels to add depth and even put lights in front of your main subject to add a more abstract bokeh effect. Nice work 47/50
